IMPORTANT NEWS FOR MEMBERS:

TRENTON PLANS TO ELIMINATE CST POSITIONS: Trenton Board of Education (BOE) is proposing to reduce or eliminate (RIF) school psychologists and other Child Study Team/Related Services providers. NJASP is supporting our colleagues in Trenton. We advocate for comprehensive school/district based services for all children in support of communities in the City of Trenton.

The proposed massive reduction in essential staff and the proposed privatization of CST services is contrary to NJASP's mission to "advocate for all children to realize their full potential" and "promote school psychological services for children and families." District employed school psychologists deliver educational and mental health services with an understanding of the unique characteristics of each school and community. Decreasing the availability of comprehensive services not only seriously hurts children but also impacts the parents, teachers, administrators, and other school professionals who rely on their school psychologists to be readily available.
